psychometric assessment and its role in the recruitment process

Following TAC Europe's recent appointment as a SHL partner company, March 2nd 2006, saw the launch of their Psychometric Assessment service to the market. The event was held at their new European headquarters, Matrix House at Basing View Business Park, Basingstoke.

Effective use of ‘psychometric assessment' plays a valuable role in making any candidate selection process objective and fair. Occupational testing will not only help to protect an organisation from a discrimination or unfair dismissal claim but also speeds up the recruitment cycle, improves accuracy and helps promote a company as a prospective employer to applicants who are increasingly in demand.

Key speakers at the event included Henry Clinton-Davis, Partner (Labour and Employment) at WilmerHale, one of UK' s and USA's most respected law firms and Sean Howard, Sales Director for SHL Ltd, a world leader in people assessment.

Elizabeth Battle, HR Manager, TAC Europe & event host commented “ The hiring of a new employee is one of the most important decisions a manager is called upon to make, psychometric assessment can add great benefits as part of an organisation's recruitment process”

TAC Europe's trained & SHL qualified consultants are able to provide a comprehensive psychometric service to their own direct clients. In addition, as a SHL partner company, they are also able to provide smaller recruitment consultancies with access to SHL tools & consultancy which would otherwise be prohibitively expensive to obtain.

Elizabeth Battle further commented “We are committed to guiding all our clients & business partners through the maze of psychometrics. We can assist in determining how objective assessment can bring benefit to an organisation. We are able to work closely with consultants and hiring managers in order to tailor our service based upon budget & operational considerations”

The launch was well received, with key industry representatives attending such as the CIPD, North Hants Chamber of Commerce, EMC, Mann Aviation, Royal Bank of Scotland & FSS.

I was extremely pleased to see a recruitment company really take a radical step and enter into partnership with SHL. I have been a convert to SHL methods for some time, and have undertaken their training, so I can fully utilise their products.

The value of the use of psychometrics has been proven, and even in their simplest form you stand an improved chance of a better fit. It is fit for purpose that matters, especially when adding new blood to an organisation at any level.

What a good way to do it, so organisations can take another outsourced route and allow the HR communities in organisations to concentrate on the other people issues, which add value to their businesses
