boxer eyes success for coming season

Local boxer and TAC Europe employee, Darryl Still is looking to make a promising start to the forthcoming season and to emulate the successes he enjoyed in the last campaign, in particular, having been selected for the Southern Counties Squad.

Darryl is currently training hard to be in peak condition for his first bout due in mid September and hopes to pick up where he left off after Darryl’s last victory against Andrew Swan, an intermediate, well experienced boxer from Faversham, Kent.

Darryl commented “He was very strong and illusive, and gave me problems from the opening bell. I felt drained after so many bouts and at the end of the season I was nowhere near my best.”

Swan won the first round as Darryl was focussed primarily on lasting the overall bout. Receiving some harsh words from City of Portsmouth trainer, Ted Harris, he lifted his game after an even 2nd to win the 3rd and final round, with cleaner punching and clever defence. At the final bell Darryl got the nod on a majority decision.

Darryl hopes to fight Andrew Swan again in the British Championships, and TAC Europe wish him the best of luck for the forthcoming season.

tac europe ladies complete ‘race for life’

On 28th June, technical recruiter, Donna French and contracts administrator, Jo Austin took part in the Race for Life at the Down Grange Sports Complex in Basingstoke. The event proved to be a great success with Donna & Jo managing to raise over £475 for Cancer Research UK between them.

Post race, Donna commented;

“The atmosphere was brilliant; knowing that all these women were giving up their time to be there to raise money for Cancer Research. It’s quite an emotional couple of hours as it really makes you think about why you’re doing it.”

Also taking part in the national event was fellow TAC Europe employee, Christine Woolhouse, who completed the 5km run on the 19th July at Prospect Park in Reading raising £210 in sponsorship.

The Race For Life is the biggest women-only fund raising event and raises money for Cancer Research UK – the worlds leading independent organisation dedicated to cancer research. Women of all ages and all levels of fitness take part, and there are over 200 events taking place across the country.

The ladies are pictured proudly displaying their well earned Race for Life medals.

director gains pounds by losing weight

As many of us are aware, there are many factors that contribute to our middle age spread, such as heavy workloads and a penchant for the finer foods in life... so TAC Director of Recruitment decided to do something about it.

Prompted by TAC Europe’s recent move to our prestigious new offices and having access to a free on-site gym, Alan Maskell set out upon a sponsored weight loss. He was encouraged by the “Monday Motivators” circuit classes which he attended every week after work and was assisted by the in-house Restaurant staff creating low fat lunches. Alan gave himself 3 months to lose as much as possible.

Alan got off to a flying start, loosing an amazing 19 lbs in the first month. Spurred on by this successful first month and the promise of a very generous donation from one of TAC’s major clients; ATC Lasham. Alan was determined to continue the hard work and raise as much money as possible for St Michael’s Hospice, TAC Europe’s chosen local charity.

As one last attempt to burn off those last few pounds, Alan and several other members of TAC Europe took part in Basingstoke’s annual Big Wheel Charity Bike Ride, the proceeds of which also going to St Michael’s Hospice. Not one to turn down a challenge, Alan decided to do the 54 Mile route, which he completed in just over 4 hours. Donna French, Paul Dunn, Alex Wigmore and Joanne Scriven all completed the 24 mile course.

So finally, after 3 months Alan had lost an amazing 35lbs, including 2 inches off his chest and a huge 8 inches from his waist, raising a total of £4820.40 for charity. Having also completed the 54 mile bike ride, he took the total donation to St Michaels Hospice to over £5000!
